Anyone can take a photograph.

Taking good photographs is more difficult.

Taking consistently excellent, professional photographs in the hectic environment of a wedding celebration is quite another matter.

There are no second chances. Your Wedding Album will be one of your most treasured possessions in decades to come, so it makes good sense to choose your photographer very carefully.

In Paul Allen you have the perfect combination of experience, technical expertise, aesthetic judgement and effective people handling skills, not to mention a genuine desire to help make your wedding a really special day.

Your wedding memories are in safe hands.

Important questions to ask

No doubt you will be considering a number of photographers. Ask every photographer the following questions. If they can't answer YES to every question, ask yourself why.

Paul Allen can answer YES to every question.

  • Will I meet the actual photographer before the day of the wedding?

  • Will I be shown recent samples of wedding photographs taken by the actual photographer who will attend my wedding?

  • Will the photographer get to know me a week or two before the wedding so I can discuss exactly what I want?

  • Will the photographer quote a value for money price for capturing my wedding the way I want it, rather than shoehorning me into a standard 'package'?

  • Will all my photographs (including the proofs) be 8 x 6 inches or larger?

  • Will the photographer accompany me to the wedding venues a week or two before the ceremony so we can carry out a site survey, plan ahead, take advantage of natural features, check lighting and discuss contingency plans for bad weather etc?

  • Will the photographer have the personality and natural authority to efficiently marshal the wedding party and guests for the formal shots? You cannot be sure of this if you have not met.

  • Will the photographer double up for safety on the most important shots, either by using two cameras or sometimes by bringing an assistant photographer?

  • Will the photographer use only the best quality film?

  • Will the photographer use only the best professional development and printing laboratory?

  • Will the photographer allow me to select my final prints at leisure, rather than pressuring me for a quick decision?
